We always have hope

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.

I am thinking of how my small dog behaves whenever there is food around.

Now for me as someone that understands her health and how sick she can get when she eats certain foods, I have to be vigilant and apply some form of wisdom to what I give her. She does not have this ability and will eat anything whether it will make her sick or not.

Sometimes I would eat something that I know will make her sick and in this case I cannot give her the same thing that I am eating, not even a little bit of it. This however does not deter her from looking at me and having a hopeful look every time I move a little bit faster or look at her.

This makes me think of our relationship with God. We might think that He does not listen or that He does not respond but in actual fact He knows what we need, when we need it, and He knows whether it is the right thing for us.

If we received every little thing that we ask for, what would become of us? Would we become sick just as my little dog would? Would it hurt us more than it would do good? Sure there are a lot of questions but there is only really one answer… God knows better!

We might feel like we are in this deep and dark pit and it never ends, but in actual fact it is most likely right where we should be. The point being that we do not know what tomorrow holds, we do not even know what the next hour holds, not fully anyways.

Let’s trust God that He is in fact in control and that He knows better, just like I do with my dog, so does He with us. Just in a much larger capacity.

Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil. For those who are evil will be destroyed, but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land.
